Manipur Tribal Representatives of HAC Calls upon President Ram Nath Kovind

Manipur tribal representatives after meeting G Kishan Reddy, DoNER minister on September 28 and union home minister, Amit Shah on September 30, led by Hill Areas Committee Chairman, K. Leishiyo Keishing along with Outer member of Parliament, Dr. Lorho Pfoze on Monday met the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

It is reported that the tribal delegation of HAC in the meeting appraised Ram Nath Kovind of the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill 2021.

Although the details of the meeting with the President could not be ascertained till filing of this report, it is expected that the tribal delegation must have apprised Ram Nath Kovind about the prevailing situation and issues in Manipur state about how the state assembly had denied to table the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill, 2021 recommended by the Hill Areas Committee (HAC) of the state during the recent Manipur Legislative Assembly monsoon session.

The Manipur tribal delegation meeting with central leaders at New Delhi reported to also have met union Social Justice & Empowerment minister, Pratibha Bhowmik and Inner MP, R K Ranjan Singh, union minister of State, External Affairs & Education in New Delhi last week.
