Ukhrul: Songashim Rungsung from Talui village, Ukhrul district bagged the country’s biggest annual pageant for men, the Rubaru Mr. India, United Continents title at the recently concluded Rubaru Mr India 2020-2021 held in Goa on Thursday. He will later this year represent India at the Mr. United Continents.
Songashim also won the national costume presentation, Rubaru Mr. India 2020-2021 for his unique and rich history of Tangkhul Naga traditional attire in a warrior costume he lavishly displayed, showcasing the colorful and diverse beauty of India.
The costume is a mixture of a warrior going to a war and costume of celebrating victory. The two chest blade signifies the shield, bow and arrows and spear are weapons to wage war. The head gear, necklace and the piece of the legs are worn after the victory to perform victory dance, he said.
Songashim is an all out fitness buff, freelance fitness trainer, model and an up and coming YouTuber, an alumnus of St Joseph College, Bengaluru, and KTL Excel Higher Secondary School, Ukhrul.
His one particular vlog on TANGKHUL Warrior in Church Street, Bangalore (Part 1 & 2) a Social experiment, hit the chord with over a lakh views for his unique original presentation of the Tangkhul tribe many people in India, or for that matter, other Northeast tribes the world know little about.
The Rubaru Mr. India, United Continents winner is a freelance model currently based in Bengaluru. His first attempt into the glamour world took off in 2018 at Mega Northeast where he was able to make it to the top 10 finalist.
He came and he conquered, the rest is history.
