IMPHAL/UKHRUL: Despite a significant improvement in the flood situation, water continues to stagnate inside many houses at Kongkham Mamang Leikai in Nambol, Bishnupur district, even as the breached embankment along the Nambol River nears full restoration after three days of intensive repair work.
Local residents and volunteers, assisted by the Water Resources Department, Manipur Police, and the local MLA, have been working continuously to seal the breach caused by heavy monsoon rains. Residents said only a small section of the damaged embankment remains to be repaired and expressed confidence that the work would be completed later on Wednesday.

The breach inundated nearly 100 houses and submerged several fish farms, forcing authorities to open two relief camps for affected families. Although floodwaters have receded in several areas, many homes remain waterlogged, and low-lying agricultural fields are still submerged.
Residents appreciated the timely support extended by the local MLA, Manipur Police, and the Water Resources Department, stating that their joint efforts with local volunteers helped expedite the restoration work.
With the embankment restoration in its final stage and river levels continuing to fall, residents are hopeful that the remaining stagnant water will drain away soon, paving the way for normalcy to return to the flood-hit area.
