According to reliable sources, the bridge was attacked at around 10:30 PM by miscreants, suspected to be Kuki militants. The miscreants also burnt a telecom vehicle heading toward Chatric. The villagers have accused the armed Kuki militants of carrying out the attack, though no group has claimed responsibility so far.

The bridge, which spans the Namban River between the Phange and Chattric Khunou villages, serves as a vital lifeline for the Sahamphung Block, covering more than 10 villages in the area.
