Kangpokpi, June 5: The Kuki Students’ Organisation – City branches on Monday said it is utterly dismayed by the action of Committee on Tribals Unity (COTU) lifting blockade on National Highway-2 for a specific window after COTU stated that it was done in accordance with deliberation and consultation among the public and CSOs.

KSO in a press statement on Monday said the action of COTU infuriated the people. “We, therefore, raise here the question, “Wide consultation with whom?” And if the consultation was, indeed, made as stated and a consensus reached, why would it still infuriate the publie?” KSO questioned.

“While this decision was taken in support of the “Peace Mission” of Government of India, it is rather insensitive of COT for its failure to take notice of the arsons and firings taking place at Sugnu even on the day the press release was made,” KSO further added.

While the Kuki Students’ Organisation reiterated that any decision taken in the current circumstances without the consensus of the public will be deemed mall and void, urged COTU for clarification at the earliest.
