CHANDEL: Wisecrabs, a youth-led club committed to promoting learning, intellectual growth, meaningful conversations and community engagement, celebrated its 8th Foundation Day on Thursday with a programme attended by educators, professionals, achievers, community members and well-wishers.
The celebration, held at Little Ones Kindergarten Hall, Japhou Bazaar, reflected on Wisecrabs’ journey since its inception in 2018 and its continuing effort to create spaces where young people can exchange ideas, learn from accomplished individuals and contribute to the community. From conversations with achievers to community initiatives, environmental campaigns and efforts in publishing, Wisecrabs has gradually expanded beyond its original concept. Its journey has been shaped by the belief that learning should not remain confined to classrooms and that young people need accessible platforms to encounter ideas, experiences and role models.

The programme moderated by Hb Orchid, began with an opening prayer by Bd Daniel, followed by a welcome address by Bd Thanila. Lh Thahrin presented a special song, while Morangam Tontang shared his “Journey with Wisecrabs”, offering reflections on his association with the organisation and its evolution over the years.
The congratulatory session featured messages from Dr Bd Thumdal, former Principal of United College Chandel, who reminisced the early days of the club and the initial programmes. Ms Villy Kiho-Lukhu, Principal of Little Ones Preparatory School, expressed her happiness on finding a likeminded community in the form of the club. Dr Amarson Sankhil, Principal of JNV Chandel, acknowledged the significance and influence of Wisecrabs in raising environmental issues, health-related concerns, and encouraging students in the positive direction. Lt. Col. Adith, 2IC, 10 AR, in his speech congratulated the club and assured support from the army for future programmes. Hechin Haokip, Director of CWG, spoke on the possible collaborations with the club in the future. The celebration was attended by RT Joynie, Jireh Moyon, Ng Rumeensha, Meshil Maring, Maku Thengchoi, Ng Kennedy, Ts Napuri, W Kindness, Ts Shulungri and Ps Valleyrose.
A cake-cutting and refreshment session sponsored by the club executives followed, after which Wisecrabs President Ts Mhanthung Anal delivered the presidential speech wherein he acknowledged the role and importance of past and present club executives in successfully conducting programmes and setting an example for others to follow. The president also announced the revival of bi-monthly magazine ‘The Voice of Chandel’ in the coming days. KL Varni presented another special song, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

The formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Db Rengshing.
The celebration concluded with an executives’ meeting, marking the beginning of another phase in Wisecrabs’ journey as it seeks to strengthen its activities and continue providing a platform for learning, dialogue and community engagement. The 8th Foundation Day therefore served not merely as an anniversary celebration but also as an occasion to look back at the organisation’s evolution and reaffirm its commitment to its founding spirit.
