Ukhrul: Women of Hungpung Unit for Social Advancement (WHUSA) organised a Half Yearly Kazip cum Handicraft Competition under the motto, “For better tomorrow” at Ilongshim, Awungtang, Hungpung. The occasion was graced by Thingreiphy Lungharwoshi, President, Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) as the speaker.
In her speech, Thingreiphy asked the (Hungpung) Unit to strictly adhere to the guidelines of constitution laid down by TSL in order to avoid unnecessary conflict, especially in electing leaders. She added that if there’s no unity in the units, the apex body will disintegrate.

While stating the importance of the two organizations in Ukhrul headquarter, namely, WHUSA and Hunphun Shanao Long, the President said the three bodies, including the TSL, are the three ‘meithalung’, without which she cannot operate. She thanked and appreciated the continued support of WHUSA whom she considered her stronghold.
Thingreiphy congratulated two young members of WHUSA, ZAS Phamiwon and YS Sowon who were felicitated for successfully completing PhD in Nutrition and MBBS respectively. She acknowledged the support of mothers for their success and wished for more success stories in the future.

Over 300 women in traditional dresses attended the event. Choreography and Handicraft competitions were held. The handicraft products and horticulture produces from members were auctioned after the event.
The congregation also said a mass prayer for the unity and leadership of WHUSA under the presidency of YL Ency, as well as for the welfare of Tangkhul Shanao Long.
WHUSA as an apex women organization has played a significant role in the lives of women in the village. They have initiated several self help groups that are some of the best performers in the State.
Meanwhile, Yursari Kasomwoshi, the talented Tangkhul artist serenaded the congregation with her melodious sound.
