PHERZAWL: Marking World Environment Day 2026, schools across Pherzawl district in Manipur on Friday actively participated in a series of plantation and awareness programmes organised by the Pherzawl Forest Division, reinforcing the message of environmental conservation at the grassroots level.

Observed under the theme “A Step for Both Our Mother and Our Mother Earth,” the event also aligned with the nationwide campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0,” encouraging individuals to plant trees in honour of their mothers while promoting ecological sustainability.

Students, teachers, youth, and Forest Division staff enthusiastically took part in the programmes, which featured tree plantation drives within school campuses and interactive awareness sessions on the importance of protecting natural resources.

She noted that engaging students at an early stage is crucial for building a culture of sustainable living and long-term environmental stewardship.

The observance not only reinforced the message of conservation but also encouraged collective community action towards building a greener and more sustainable future.
