New Delhi, Dec 25: The World Meetei Council (erstwhile, World Meetei Convention) staged a sit-in-protest at Jantar Mantar on December 25 to draw the attention of the national leaders, especially of the prime minister, Narendra Modi to its demand to include the Meetei in the list of Scheduled Tribes of the Indian Constitution, maintaining that it is a “genuine” demand.

WMC in a press note Sunday stated that the demand is long overdue on the part of the government to include the Meetei in ST list.
