Zeliangrong Union appeals to shun violence in Zeliangong areas

Expressing its concern on the clash that took place between two ZUF factions recently, Zeliangrong Union of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (ZU-AMN) “strongly” condemned the factional clash.

“Two of our beloved Zeliangrong brothers were killed which is a great loss to our people at this crucial juncture,” said ZU(AMN) on Tuesday.

“ZU(AMN) stands for peace, integrity and solidarity of the Zeliangrong people living in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland. But we are saddened by the unfortunate incident that took place on October 23, 2020 at Soubunglong village under Khoupum police station, Longmai district between the two groups–ZUF (Jenchui) and ZUF (Kamson) where one Laonuam Balang of Oktang village and one Gaijangam Kamei of Longmai Pt. V of ZUF (Jenchui) group were killed,” said ZU(AMN).

It then said if there is any difference between individuals, parties, groups, organizations etc., etc., it can be settled through peaceful means i.e. the “Zeliangrong traditional/customary law laid down by our forefathers”.

ZU(AMN) then appealed to the “functionaries” of both the ZUF factions to shun violence and killing in all the “Zeliangrong inhabited areas” in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.

ZU(AMN) then said it will extend all possible help in reconciliation of the two groups in the larger interest of Zeliangrong people for unity, integrity and solidarity. “Lastly, the ZU (AMN) also shares the pains and sorrows of the two bereaved families and also prays that their souls may rest in peace,” it added.
