Churachandpur, August 12: In its ongoing campaign against the region’s drug trade, the Greyhound Force Battalion of the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) on Wednesday arrested two men accused of selling narcotics in an open market in Suangdoh Division.

The arrests, based on intelligence reports, targeted what ZRA described as long-time drug peddlers in the area. The suspects were identified as Kaikhosiam Guite of G. Bualzang village and Langsuanlal of Lungthul (L) village, both from Churachandpur district.

According to ZRA, the operation led to the seizure of heroin No. 4, packed in multiple containers, along with several packets of syringes. In a public display intended as a deterrent, the seized drugs were burned on-site by the accused themselves, in the presence of ZRA and local residents.

The ZRA thanked community members for their cooperation and vowed to continue the crackdown. “This is a must-act, as the future depends on the youth, who are being led astray by the drug menace,” the group said.
