1 COVID-19 death of 56-year-old man, 86 new cases reported in Manipur

Manipur COVID-19 infection tally crossed 30,000-mark on Thursday following a rapid surge in daily infections in the state in the last fortnight.

The number of active cases of the disease also crossed 500-mark, the Health department said in its daily update report on Thursday.

In the past 24 hours, 86 new infections of the disease including two CAPF personnel took the state’s Covid-19 tally to 30,047, it said. 

Adding 25 patients who were discharged upon recovery from the viral disease, the recovery tally of the state also rose to 29,153. 

The number of active cases also reached 513, leading to dipping the recovery rate to 97.02% further against previous day’s 97.21%.

The new cases were confirmed out of 1,533 samples tested during the past 24 hours and an air passenger was among the new cases. The total number of samples tested in the state so far reached 5,99,801.

Of the total new infection among the general population, 30 were from Imphal East district, 17 from Imphal West district, 14 from Kakching, nine from Churachandpur, six from Bishnupur, four from Thoubal district and two each from Chandel and Senapati districts.

With a 56-year-old man from Imphal East district expired today at RIMS hospital, the fatality tally also rose to 381 on Thursday.
