Imphal, August 28: The Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur, has confirmed 12 new dengue cases in the past 24 hours, raising concern over the sharp spike in infections during August. With the fresh additions, the total number of dengue cases detected in the state this month alone has climbed to 340.
According to Thursday’s update, seven of the new cases were reported from Imphal West, three from Imphal East, and one each from Ukhrul and Bishnupur districts.
Overall, Manipur has reported 470 dengue cases since the beginning of this year, including one fatality in Bishnupur district. Imphal West remains the worst affected with 345 positive cases, followed by Imphal East with 57 and Thoubal with 23. Bishnupur has recorded 15 cases, Senapati eight, Kakching seven, Ukhrul six, Chandel and Kamjong two each, and one case each from Kangpokpi, Tamenglong, Noney, Tengnoupal and Churachandpur districts. Jiribam is the only district with no confirmed case this year.

Health authorities have urged the public to remain alert and adopt preventive measures, particularly in urban clusters where mosquito breeding remains high.
