Manipur’s COVID-19 active cases surged to 141 as the daily caseload continues to exceed the recoveries in the last few days.
The Manipur Health department, in its daily update report, said that 18 persons including three Central security force personnel were confirmed as new COVID-19 cases in the state during the past 24 hours.
Adding the fresh cases of the disease, the infection tally of the state rose to 29,579. The tally included 29,062 and 376 fatalities. The recovery rate of the state stood at 98.25%.
The number of active cases is 141, out of which 18 are Central security force personnel.
Of the 15 new cases from the general population, two are air passengers who arrived from other states today.
Eight of the new cases were reported from Imphal West, three from Churachandpur and one each from Thoubal, Bishnupur, Kakching and Kangpokpi, the health department said.
The fresh cases were among the 849 samples tested in the past 24 hours. A total of 5,90, 238 samples have been tested in the state so far.
During the same period, 10 patients were recovered, it added.
Meanwhile, with the vaccination drive against COVID-19 in the state picking up as the number of people vaccinated till today crossed one lakh-mark.As per the latest update by the Health department, with 2,288 people vaccinated today, the cumulative number of vaccinated people rose to 1,01,069 on Wednesday. The recipients included 32,109 healthcare workers.
