1st Haipei Rani Gaidinliu Women Sports and Cultural Programme kicks off at Noney District

Noney: The 1st Haipei Rani Gaidinliu Women Sports and Cultural Programme under the theme “Reignite the Glory” organised by Rongmei Luh Phwam Manipur (RLPM) was kick off today at Longmai Common Ground, Noney district headquarters by minister Oinam Lukhoi, Agriculture, Tourism, Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Manipur as the chief guest and Gaidon Kamei, Special Invitee, State Executive BJP Manipur Pradesh as the guest of honour. The programme was attended by Ramkung Pamei, president, Rongmei Naga Council Manipur as the Function President and Asha Wungam, president, Naga Women Union as the special guest.

The three day long programme will see various sports and cultural activities, such as march-past competion, volleyball tournament, cultural dance competition, musical extravaganza, bonfire lighting, Rongmei Naga Luh Phwam nite etc.

Speaking at the event, Oinam Lukhoi Singh lambasted the previous congress government for ignoring the hill people and weaker section in developmental infrastructures and government schemes. But now, he said, the present NDA government led by Narendra Modi and N. Biren Singh revived and re-awakening the good relationship between hill and valley people. The present government is giving more emphasis and focus in hilly area of Manipur.

He further added that the BJP led government recognised the freedom fighter of Tribal people and gave esteem honour due to them in work and reality. “Now the central government has already sanctioned to constructs Rani Gaidinliu Muesem at her birth place Longkao village,” minister Oinam Lukhoi said.

The minister continued and said that special attention in priority basis is being given to hill and remote places bringing equality development both in the valley and hill. That is why Go to Village and Go to Hills schemes has been taken up in Manipur. During Atal Bihari Vajpai government, the Jiribam-Imphal Railways projects was brought under the chief ministership of W. Nipamacha Singh. He also appealed to the people not to give hindrances and disturbances in any of state government’s developmental activities. Three crores projects has been sanctioned and work has also been started by the state Tourism Dept. to develope Eco-Tourism Park near World Railways Bridge at Khumji, Noney, he added.

Gaidon Kamei, speaking at the event as guest of honour said the spirit of patriotism and perseverance should dwell in our Rongmei Community to protect our land and rich cultural heritage. We need to revive and preserve once again our rich culture and traditional values. And Rongmei Luh Phwam should be strengthened and move forward to safeguard our identity.

More than 31 volleyball teams and 6 cultural troupes coming from several lungrian of Rongmei Community will take part in the 1st Haipei Rani Gaidinliu Women Sports and Cultural Programme.
