Ukhrul, Mar 5: In a swift response to the leakage of the Physics question paper of the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) examination, the Manipur Police, after a thorough investigation, has arrested two individuals allegedly involved in the matter.
The arrested individuals are identified as Maibam Sunil Singh (33 yrs), S/o M. Ibomcha, R/o Nepra Company Makaha Leikai, Thoubal District and Ningombam Jagdish Singh (33 yrs) S/o N. Bidyashwar Singh, Thoubal District.

The individuals were serving as Physics and Chemistry teachers respectively at the Paradise English School, Thoubal. Maibam Sunil Singh was also serving at the AOC Exam Centre besides operating a private hostel.
They were arrested on March 3 and March 4, 2025, following due legal procedures, the police said. Incriminating evidence, including mobile phones, were also seized from their possession.
The Manipur Police stated that it remains committed to conducting a thorough investigation and will continue taking all necessary measures to uphold the integrity of the examination process and ensure a fair system for all students.

Notably, according to the Democratic Students’ Alliance, Manipur (DESAM), the Physics question paper was leaked and found shared on WhatsApp on March 3 about half an hour before the commencement of the exam. Subsequently, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (COHSEM) had filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police. The council had also informed that an enquiry committee would be formed to investigate the matter.
It may be mentioned that the High School Leaving Certificate Exam 2025 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) had also been rocked with Social Science subject question leakage on February 25. The Manipur Police had arrested two individuals, Samadram Meghachandra, a Social Science teacher, and Yumnam Ranjit, Vice Principal, of Little Star English School, Thoubal Haokha, on March 2 in connection with the matter.
