2 Kuki Militants killed in gunfight with Assam Police, Two AK assault rifles recovered

Two cadres of a kuki militant group, United People’s Revolutionary Front – Martin (UPRF-M) were reportedly killed in a gunfight with Assam Police on Sunday morning. Two AK assault rifles were also recovered by the police.

The two deceased persons are identified as Haominlen Sitlhou S/o Lt Seimang Sitlhou of Changpijol village Karbi Anglong Assam and Haokholal Haokip S/o Letkho-On Haokip of Molnom village karbi Anglong Assam. It is said that the two persons were cadres of (UPRF-M) group. The gun battle was said to have occurred near Jollen village, Karbi Anglong district, Assam on June 20 morning.

According to source, the gunfight broke out after Black Panther unit from Assam police conducted search operation following a specific input about the presence of militants in the general areas of Jollen village.
