2021 Dr. Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarship Awarded to 4 Naga Students in US

The Naga American Foundation, a non-profit educational organization that promotes Naga culture and heritage in America organizes social activities and facilitates educational and cultural opportunities for Nagas living in the United States.

As part of the Foundation initiative creating opportunities for Naga students living in America, the foundation in the past years awarded as many as 15 Dr. Aryo Shishak Memorial scholarships to Naga students in different disciplines.

This year’s Dr. Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarship award 2021 went to four Naga students from Northeast India.

1. Joanna Angumei, Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient is a freshman undergraduate student at Elmhurst University in Illinois. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Music Education as a vocal music education major in which she will be able to teach choir, orchestra, and band from grades Pre-K through 12.
2. Sophia Mozhui, Undergraduate Scholarship Recipient is a sophomore at Pepperdine University majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Multimedia Design. Her interest in the business industry lies in marketing where my goal one day is to work at a marketing firm in the fashion industry, gradually climbing up my rank, hopefully becoming the CEO one day.
3. Mathingmi Hongchui, Graduate Scholarship Recipient will graduate this semester from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas in Master of Arts in Christian Education and looking ahead to enroll in PhD studies in the Fall of 2021.
4. Khak Khak Khayi, Graduate Scholarship Recipient is currently pursuing master’s degree in Biotechnology at Northwestern University. She is also in the midst of applying for a doctorate degree in Molecular Biology. She plans to continue learning and growing as a researcher to contribute to the society.
