328 Firearms and Ammunition Seized in Valley Districts: Manipur Police

Imphal, June 14: Manipur Police in a press note on Saturday said a joint security teams launched simultaneous operations that yielded a haul of 328 firearms.

The press note said Manipur Police in coordination with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), the Army, and Assam Rifles, conducted massive search operations during the intervening night of June 13 and 14, leading to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from various locations across five valley districts.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs about weapons stashed in the outskirts of the valley districts, joint security teams launched simultaneous operations that yielded a haul of 328 firearms, including:

  • 151 SLR rifles
  • 65 INSAS rifles
  • 73 other rifles
  • 5 carbine guns
  • 2 MP5 guns
  • 12 LMGs
  • 6 AK-series rifles
  • 2 Amogh rifles
  • 1 AR-15 rifle
  • 1 mortar
  • 6 pistols
  • 2 barrels
  • 2 flare guns

In addition, the forces recovered:

  • 591 assorted magazines
  • 3,534 SLR rounds, 2,186 INSAS rounds, 2,252 .303 rounds, 234 AK rounds, 407 Amogh rounds, and 20 9mm rounds
  • 10 grenades, 3 lathodes, 7 detonators, and 3 para devices

The Manipur Police said the operation is a “major achievement” in its ongoing efforts to restore normalcy and ensure the safety of civilians and their property.

“Senior police officials are in close coordination with all security stakeholders to ensure that such operations continue in a sustained and focused manner to restore normalcy, maintain public
order, and ensure the safety and security of citizens and their properties,” the press note added.
