Ukhrul: The Governor of Manipur has made modification to the government order dated 27th March, 2024 with reference No. LIB-101/1/2022-GAD-GAD-Part(1).
According to the revised order, only the March 30, 2024 (Saturday), will be considered a ‘working day’ for all Government Offices, including Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Corporations, Autonomous Bodies, and Societies under the State Government of Manipur.
The order is aimed to ensure the smooth functioning of offices in the final days of the Financial Year 2023-24. While the March 30 is designated as a working day, the order also clarifies that all government transactions related to receipts and payments through the Treasuries and Agency Banks will continue uninterrupted for the remainder of the fiscal year.
The declaration, made in partial modification of the previous order, has been approved by the Competent Authority, the new order signed off by Angom Heera Singh, Deputy Secy (GAD), GoM stated.

Several Religious institutions, Civil Organisations and Community Leaders such as the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me, The Tamenglong Baptist Church, the Senapati District Catholic Union, Mao Baptist Churches Association, Tangkhul Naga Baptist Convention, the Chandel Naga Christian Forum, the Village Authority Chairman Council (VACC) and Chairman & Secretary Association of Tamenglong (CSAT), among others criticized the Manipur government’s pretext of ensuring smooth office operations during the financial year-end, calling it biased. They urged the GoM to withdraw the order promptly and demonstrate a commitment to fostering harmony and inclusivity among all religious communities as they all condemned the declaration of March 27, 2024.
