Ukhrul, March 29, 2025: The 5th edition of Tangkhul Naga Film Festival 2025 concluded on Saturday at Ambrose Hotel, Hungpung, Ukhrul.
The grand ceremony saw the attendance of Shamurailatpam Nabachnadra Sharma, State Coordinator, Arts and Culture Department, Manipur as Chief Guest. The guests of honour were Alexander Leo Pou, Director Manipur State Film and Television Institute, James Khangenbam, Independent Film Maker and Assurance Raikhan, Programme Coordinator Doordarshan, President All Tribal Film Development.
Stars and fame people in the showbiz industry from Zeliangrong Film Forum, Kankhu Film & Entertainmnet Society Chandel, Rongmei Film Forum, and Liangmei Film Forum attended the festival.
YL. Ravins, President of Tangkhul Naga Film Association stated that a total of 126 Tangkhul films have been produced from various production houses since 1986 to March 2025.
Alexander Leo Pou stated, “We might lack in many things but we have the freshness of ideas and stamps of originality. That is where we need to explore and focus. There is a sea of talent to be tapped among the community.’

The best film award went to Mayo Zingran for its powerful storytelling that resonates deeply with the times, Mayo Zingran stands as a testament to the transformative power of cinema. With a compelling narrative, outstanding performances, and masterful execution, the film leaves an indelible mark.
The best female actor award was presented to Chungsangla Jajo for her superb performance in the movie Mayo Zingran. Her extraordinary performance that transcends the screen, embodying the depth of human emotion with authenticity and nuance. With remarkable dedication, Chungsangla Jajo brings her character to life, delivering an unforgettable experience. She beautufully captures the true essence of a mother and wife, navigating challenging circumstances to hold her family together
The best male actor went to Shaingam Ngakang for his outstanding role in the movie Atazan. He portrays a powerful and deeply moving performance that captivates and inspires with exceptional skill and originality. Shaingam Ngakang leaves a lasting impact on audiences, embodying the true power of care and compassion for those in need.
The best director award went to Makanmi Ramror of Mayo Zingran for his visionary storytelling. Makanmi Ramror crafts a cinematic experience that is both timely and deeply relevant to his people. His ability to blend narrative with emotion adds depth to every scene, delivering powerful messages that resonate with the hearts and minds of the audience.
The best producer award was presented to Nobert Khayi of Sheehame 2 for his visionary leadership and collaboration. Nobert Khayi brings a compelling story to life with passion and excellence. His dedication to storytelling, artistic integrity, and cinematic excellence has been instrumental in shaping a film that sets a high aesthetic benchmark.
The best editor award was given to Pamshing Rungsung for the seamless and masterful pacing of Sheehame 2. Pamshing Rungsung weaves together moments with precision and artistry. His keen eye for detail and rhythm enhances the film’s emotional depth, crafting an immersive cinematic experience.
The best cinematographer award was given to Raikhang Jajo of Mayo Zingran for masterfully capturing light, movement, and emotion. Raikhang Jajo’s artistic vision and technical excellence create a cinematic experience that elevates the power of storytelling.

The best supporting role (Female) award was given to Themreiwon Raiping of Avawui Khamsui for her captivating and emotionally profound performance.
The best supporting Role (Male) award was presented to Oshim Soho, for his dominant role in the film Sheehame 2.
The best screenplay award was given to Makanmi Ramror for the film Mashunwo. Ramror brilliantly crafted a narrative that captures the human crisis of our time.
The best background score award was given to Okchar Kaping of Mashunwo for his evocative composed score. Okchar Kaping enhances the film’s emotional depth that lingers long after the credits roll.
The best costume award was given to Khokkha Productions for their exceptional creativity in the film Avawui Mashun. Khokkha Productions delivers meticulously crafted costumes, capturing the essence of time, culture, and emotion with stunning detail and artistry.
The best make-up award was given to Ayanao Khangrah for her outstanding artistic precision, creativity, and skill in the film Atazan. Ayanao Khangrah transforms characters with remarkable detail and authenticity, bringing them to life with depth and realism.
Special Jury Mention was given to Philayung Jajo of Mashunwo, Rosemary Shaiza of Zingcha and Amung Siro Awungshi of Mayo Zingran for their exceptional performances that brought power to the screen.
The best child artist award was given to Chingrin Ningshen from the film Atazan for her remarkable and heartfelt performance. Her natural talent and emotional expression leave a lasting impression, making her a true standout in the film.

A premiere show of HANLUI a short film by Azerin Productions enthralled the gathering. Special appearances by Ding Pamei, Jianpu Gangmei, Oshin Soho, Thanrei Varengnao, Mayochon Shokwungnao, Wungramthing Shimray and Thangmeiso Shinglai spellbound the audiences at the closing ceremony of 5th Tangkhul Naga Film Festival 2025.
The host of the event, Cecilia Zimik and Sorinthan Haorei beautifully and wonderfully hosted the programme.
