62-year-old man from Jessami succumbs to COVID-19 in Ukhrul District Hospital

Exactly after six days (May 8) of a 58-year-old woman’s death due to Covid-19 from Sirarakhong village at Shija Hospital, Imphal, a 62-year-old man on Thursday early morning at 4:15 AM succumbed to Covid-19 as his condition deteriorated at Ukhrul District Hospital taking the fatality tally in Ukhrul district to 2.

The deceased, 62-year-old has been identified as Wepfupelo Wezah H/o Kewetselu (45) from Jessami.

According to source, the patient with comorbid conditions was brought from Jessami Primary Health Center to the emergency department Ukhrul District Hospital (UDH) on Tuesday in a critical condition and was being treated at UDH, Hungpung for sore throat, fever and breathlessness and other Covid-19 related complications.

Both the deceased patient along with his wife was said to have tested for Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) on May 11.
