8 Acres Of Illicit Poppy Cultivation Destroyed in Sadim Hill Range, Senapati

UKHRUL: The Assam Rifles launched a joint anti-narcotic operation along with the CRPF, Manipur Police and forest department in general area Sadim Hill Range, Senapati on Tuesday.

During the operation which involved area domination and systematic search of suspected cultivation sites, illicit poppy cultivation spread over 8 acres was detected, which was destroyed. The destroyed cultivation had the potential to yield about 58 kilograms of opium, estimated worth multiple crores.

Additionally, two makeshift huts, pipes for irrigation, one spray pump and a water container found in the vicinity of the cultivation area were destroyed by burning.

Assam Rifles reiterates its commitment to curb the menace of narcotics and safeguard the youth and society from the adverse impact of drug abuse.
