9 arrested in Imphal West for theft during violence, 6 FIR filed by Lamphel Police

Imphal: The Imphal West Superintendent of Police informed on Wednesday that a total of 6 FIR cases have been registered at Lamphel Police Station in c/w theft, robbing, stealing of items like vehicles, camera, laptop and other household items from Langol and Kwakeithel areas by taking advantage of the prevailing law and order situation.

The SP informed that 9 persons have been arrested along with the recovery of various stolen items and produced before the Hon’ble CJM/IW on 09/05/2023 and were remanded into judicial custody on the same day by the concerned Court.

The SP further informed that investigation is going on to arrest accused persons involved, as well as early recovery of stolen items.

“Those persons who are hiding or receiving the stolen items are appealed to come out and hand over the items at the earliest. House to house search operations will be launched soon and those persons with the stolen items will be taken action as per law,” the press note informed.

The SP, Dr S Ibomcha Singh (MPS) also appealed to all the public not to indulge in any kind of such criminal activities.

Manipur Chief Minister in a press briefing on May 8 informed around 60 “innocent people” were killed, 231 injured, and 1700 houses were burnet down in the vicious ethnic violence.
