AR jawan wounded in attack by suspected Kuki militant in Imphal East

Imphal: One jawan of the Assam Rifles sustained injuries from shots fired by suspected Kuki armed cadres on Wednesday. The paramilitary forces were reportedly fired upon while patrolling a hill range in Imphal East. The Assam Rifles jawan was shot on his chest reportedly.

The Kuki armed outfits is allegedly suspected to be under Suspension of Operation (SoO).

The incident occurred at around 11:30 Wednesday at the hill range in Pukhao Terapur Dolaithabi Dam area under Imphal East.

The security forces and the suspected cadres of Kuki outfits engaged in an intense encounter in the area for almost one hour during which the Assam Rifles jawan was wounded.

The injured jawan was airlifted in a chopper to a military hospital, according to sources.

There is no confirmation of the suspected Kuki militants killed till the time of filing this report.
