As per issued order from the Secretariat of the Health Department, Govt of Manipur, sample test collection of Covid-19 from all persons entering Manipur by road commenced today at Mao Gate, Senapati irrespective of place of their origin. The mentioned test is reportedly meant for RT-PCR testing for Covid-19 which would be sent down to JNIMS Hospital, Imphal for the test.
Earlier, Dr. Pfokreho Pfoze, CMO/Director, District Health Society, Senapati in his order stated that as per instruction from Principal Secretary (Health & FW), Govt of Manipur, dated 6th April, 2021, stated Covid RT-PCR testing of persons arriving from high prevalence states to Manipur state by road at Mao Gate, Senapati.
However, as per an order issued by Soiminlian Lengen, Dy. Secretary (Health & FW), Govt of Manipur on 15th April, 2021 in order No. MED-17/2/2020-HS-Health stated, in supersession of all orders issued in this regard, all persons entering Manipur, whether by air or by road and irrespective of place of origin shall be allowed entry only on mandatory production of a negative RT-PCR/TruNat/CB-NAATCovid-19 test report taken within 72 hours from arrival in Manipur. This order shall become effective from April 18, 2021. This preventive measure may be strictly complied by all concerned. All army/CAPF units are instructed to arrange for Covid-19 testing of their personnel entering Manipur. This order was reportedly issued with approval of the competent authority.
Briefing media personnel, Dr. Nakho Johnson posted at Entry Point, Mao Gate, Senapati stated that sample test collection commenced today as per order from Secretariat of Health department, Govt of Manipur. The order asked all persons entering Manipur by air or road should bring an RT-PCR negative result. The Mao police are reportedly checking the negative results from all passengers and whoever does not bring the negative results are reportedly sent to medical team stationed there where their samples are collected. More than 120 samples were collected till 1 pm today where the collected samples would reportedly send down to JNIMS, Imphal tomorrow morning for the RT-PCR test. Their results are expected to give later in the evening or the next day. Having collected the samples, all incoming passengers would be sent to their own destination with advice for strict home isolation and their results to be confirmed through their contact numbers given at the time of their sample collection or to their nearest Police stations, asserted Dr. Johnson.
Information for all incoming passengers to bring RT-PCR negative result at the Entry Point is a must for all, beginning from today until further orders from the concerned department is issued.
Bus drivers who bring in without negative results will be their own responsibility at this point of time so as to avoid any inconvenience at the Entry Point, Mao Gate, Senapati as the given order has to be carried out.
Congestion and crowd at the entry point itself is reportedly doing harm as nobody knows who is carrying positive results.
Called as the state entry point, giving more preference at the place is not ruled out at this point of time. However, medical staffs presently stationed at Entry Point, Mao Gate, Senapati are found to be staff from Senapati District only having withdrawn from their inadequate present posting at different health institutions in the district.
Some passengers reportedly brought RAT report but rejected without the RT-PCR test results on the day at the entry point, Mao Gate, Senapati.
1 doctor with 20 paramedical staffs are reportedly stationed for the time being at the said collection.
The team would reportedly check and collect samples 24×7 starting from today onwards.
