Senapati, Nov 26: Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh declared that Senapati will be the capital of state indigenous wrestling while gracing the valedictory function of Manipur state Indigenous wrestling championship 2022 incorporation with Sangai festival as the chief guest held at Senapati mini stadium on Saturday. The Indigenous wrestling championship was organized by Senapati district wrestling association Manipur (SDWAM) and hosted by Makhrelui village.

In 65 kg below, Apao Tho (Tungjoy) emerged as champion and received Rs. 1 lakh and certificate. M. Dai Zhoh (Zhobumai) bagged the second prize and received Rs. 70,000 and certificate, S.K. Veilou (Ngairi Raidulomai) bagged the third place and received Rs. 50,000 and certificate and Doveilou Dovih (Zhobumai) bagged the fourth place and received Rs. 30,000 and certificate. The consolation prize winner includes D. Daiveihrii (Kodom Khullen), SH. Veikhole (Phuba Khuman), S. Khuveilou (Phuba Khuman) and S.L. Raisakho (Ngairi Raidulomai) all received Rs. 5,000 each.

N Biren said that any state level indigenous wrestling would be held at Senapati only and in the coming days there will be different budgetary for the indigenous wrestling game. He informed the gathering that very soon Senapati district will have wrestling complex where the state government has sanctioned Rs.7.50 crores and for construction is under process. Chief Minister informed that Senapati district will have four sports stadiums for the sport lovers and will develop Senapati district next to Khuman Lampak.
Chief Minister announced that community hall for Makhreliu village as submitted in the memorandum will look into in consultation with DC and NPO. He also highlighted the various developments taking place in the district like construction of youth hostel, women market, Dziikou road, astro turf play ground at mini stadium, play ground at Oklong, initiative of go to hill and others. He also informed about the heritage construction at Makhel village with Rs. 6 crores and said it would develop as tourist place to international standard.

Chief Minister informed that the government’s programme “health for all” is under process to give free medicine to the citizens. Singh sought the cooperation, love, care and support of the public for all round development in the state. Chief Minister said “my turn to deliver what I have promises to the people”.
The visiting wrestler from Imphal, Ningthoujam Sheetal Singh (21) s/o Ninthoujam Deben of Mayang Imphal emerged as the champion in 65 kg and above category and walked home richer with Rs. 1 Lakh and certificate. The first runner-up Rakovei Liimai ( Phuba Khuman) s/o Tho received Rs. 70,000 and certificate. L. Moses (Saranamai) bagged the third position and received Rs.50, 000 and certificate and the fourth place bagged by M. Pavei (Saranamai) and got Rs. 30,000 and certificate. Four wrestlers in 65kg and above received consolation prizes namely Kh. Sholyavei Domai (Saranamai), P.S. Kholourai (Tungjoy), Ng. Siipuni Leadson (Maiba) and A. Veytelou (Tungjoy) received Rs. 5000 each.
