Ukhrul: The 5th Winter Open Basketball Tournament organized by Wilders Club at Sacred Heart Higher Sec School, Ukhrul came to an end on Sunday.
A total of nine teams participated in the tournament where five teams came from Imphal, three from Ukhrul and one from Churachandpurpur. Lynx, CYLC A, CYLC B, Ball is life, St Anthony participated from Imphal, Hunphun Hoopers, Vikings, Brothers from Ukhrul and Lamka Hoopers from Churachandpur respectively.

Sorokhaibam Koroungamba, CAF and PD Inspector 45 Chingai AC, Members of Manipur Basketball Association (MBA), Sponsors, Media partners were present in the closing ceremony.
Speaking in the ceremony, GA Sanatomba, Former general secretary MBA said that Manipur basketball Association was established in the year 1974 and got affiliated to Basketball Federation India in the same year.
He continue to say that MBA could not watch over all the 16 district as the district association are still lacking behind. But recently, few district associations like Imphal East, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Chandel and now Ukhrul are performing very good.

He then appreciated Wilders club for organising such tournament for uplifting basketball.
After the ceremony, there was an exhibition match between Manipur Women State Basketball Team and Wilders Women Team.
The Chingamathak Young Learners’ Club, Imphal (CYLC) A and CYLC B were the finalist where CYLC B beat CYLC A to claim the championship.
Momento and cash prize of Rs 30,000 was awarded to the wining team, Rs 15,000 to the runners-up and Rs 1000 each to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Final MVP.
Tutu Chongtham from CYLC A was given the MVP and Walter Konjengbam from CYCL B was the final MVP.
The tournament ended with vote of thanks from the Wilders Club and flag dehoisting by Sorokhaibam Koroungamba, CAF and PD Inspector 45 Chingai AC.
