Imphal: Government of Manipur on Saturday announced that it is relaxing curfew under section 144 CrPC, 1973 which was clamped from May 3 prohibiting of movement in sensitive areas of the State after the flare-up and subsequent violence between the Kuki tribals and Meitei/Meetei community.

District magistrate of Churachandpur Sharath Chandra Arroju directed that curfew will be relaxed for the following dates and timings in order to facilitate the public of Churachandpur district, particularly town areas to purchase essential items including medicines and food supplies.
Under the new orders, May 6 (Saturday) from 3 pm till 5 pm; May 7 (Sunday) from 7 am to 10 am has been relaxed in the district.

“Subsequent relaxations shall be reviewed and notified based on assessment of the prevailing law and order situation,” the order read.
Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh took to twitter, “With the law and order situation improving in Churachandpur district & after talks were held between the state government and various stakeholders, I’m pleased to share that the curfew will be partially relaxed as per the details shared below.”
