Imphal: Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam indicated that while there is no final information available yet on the outcome of the high-level committee meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday, he is optimistic about the progress.
Speaking to the media at the BJP State Head Office, Thambal Shanglen, Nityaipat Chuthek in Imphal on Tuesday, Minister Govindas expressed his belief that the meeting was likely a follow-up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 100 Days Action Programme for his third term, which prioritizes the resolution of the Manipur crisis. He asserted that resolving the ongoing crisis in Manipur is among the top five priorities of the 100 Days Action Plan. He conveyed confidence that peace and normalcy would soon be restored in the state through the initiatives taken by the central government.
Minister Govindas Konthoujam has also called on individuals to stop attempting to gain political mileage and popularity at the expense of resolving the ongoing crisis in Manipur. He clarified that Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh did not participate in the Manipur Security Review Meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday because it was an executive meeting, not a political one. He explained that Manipur Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, who attended the meeting, was appointed as Chairman of the Unified Command of Manipur by the Government of India. Additionally, Manipur Chief Secretary and DGP were present at the meeting. He stated that there was nothing humiliating about the meeting for the people of Manipur.
The minister also condemned Congress leader Pawan Khera’s remarks questioning the confidence of the central government in Chief Minister N Biren due to his absence from the high-level meeting. He disclosed that the Chief Minister will definitely be attending the upcoming Security Meeting of the North Eastern Region under the DoNER Ministry.
