Senapati: Two persons from the Aimol tribe of Manipur were reportedly abducted at gunpoint by armed miscreants near the ZEO office in Kangpokpi on Wednesday afternoon, sources said.

The duo, Memory Chongthu, the chief of Kharam Thadoi village, and his son Thangreng, were allegedly forcibly abducted by two fully armed miscreants, suspected to be Kuki militants.

Sources said, the abductors snatched away their phone and vehicle key on the spot around 2:30 PM on Wednesday from Kangpokpi headquarters.

The duo were released near Bongmoul (Laikop), added sources.

Ukhrul Times could not independently verify the cause of the incident at the time of filing this report. However, sources suggest that a land dispute case seems to be the reason.
