Ukhrul: The Rongmei Naga Council Manipur has strongly condemned the ongoing gunfight between ZUF and NSCN-IM at Sangji Village, Noney District, stating that the gunfight has put the innocent villagers in grave danger.
In a press release issued by the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) on November 28, it describes the situation as a “life-threatening situation” and denounced the violence as “atrocities” committed by all parties involved.
The Council expressed their concern over the lack of regard for the safety of the civilian population, calling such actions an “act of treason” against the community.

Calling the clash “an act of treason against the community”, the RNCM has called for an immediate cease fire from both the parties and the withdrawal from the spot.
The Council stated that “all parties wilfully indulging in the act should hold accountability for any loss of properties and life in the village”. The RNCM also announced that the Local CSOs will initiate rescue operations and emphasised that both the groups involved in the conflict should respect the people’s sentiments and allow unhindered access for rescue teams rushing to the scene.

It may be mentioned that several civil society organizations have condemned the ongoing standoff between the cadres. A joint press communique signed by various civil organizations, including the RNPO, VCLA, RNCM, RNLPM, RNYOM, and village authorities of Sangji, Dollang, Lamdangei, Longsai, stated that the standoff has been going on since November 26 despite repeated appeals for an immediate end to the standoff.
