‘Affected Land Owners Committee’ Stage Protest Rally Over Unfair Compensation

Noney: More than 200 people under the aegis of Affected Land Owners Committee, Longmai bazaar area, Noney district staged a protest rally on Monday at Longmai bazaar demanding for fair compensation of payment against the unfair amount estimated for the affected land/building owners which has been demarcated for the expansion of NH-37 into double lane in Longmai bazaar.

The rally started from Longmai bazaar bridge point to Forest Gate.

Protesters holding placards written “No released of Compensation until Re-Assessment”, “Uphold Legitimate Rights of Affected Owners”, “Our Land Our Rights”, “We Want Fair Compensation”, “No Release of Compensation until problems resolved,” were seen in the rally.

Speaking to media persons, Lanthuiguang Kamei, spokesperson of the Affected Land Owner Committee said that until and unless the concerned authority re-assess and re-estimate the affected land and buildings, payment should not be made without the consent of the affected owners.

Lanthuiguang Kamei continued and said, it is learnt that there is inappropriate bills prepared and irregularities by the concerned authority as compared to the actual affected land and structures. So we demands to rectify the inappropriate bills first and there after resolve the problems unanimously before the outbreak of the people’s wrath and intense agitation.
