Ukhrul, June 16: Air India has ceased its full-service carrier at the Imphal International Airport from June 15, 2025. However, its low cost subsidiary AI Express will continue its services, official sources said.
The was decision was part of a long-standing, pre-planned strategic shift by the airline, the official sources clarified, adding that it was not related to the recent Ahmedabad crash.
On June 12, Air India’s London-bound AI 171 flight crashed shortly after takeoff from the Ahmedabad airport claiming the lives of 241 people onboard.
Air India took its final departure from Imphal at 4 PM flight to Kolkata on Sunday.
The Imphal Airport took to Facebook to share the final moments of the of Air India at Imphal International Airport, terming Air India’s departure from Imphal the “end of an era”.
