CHANDEL, July 31: Anallon Christian Institute (ACI), Lambung, on Friday organised its maiden Science and Art Exhibition under the theme “Curiosity Creates, Creativity Inspires.”
The school, established in 1975 by L. Wolhring, organised the exhibition under the supervision of Leivon Raj Kom with support from Ts Pholnihrin, Sr Naomi, St Konison and Kt Tonihrin.
The inaugural function was attended by Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Chandel, Hrangbung Starson, Science Supervisor Joseph Khamba, Food Safety Officer Dr Wilson Shongshir, who judged the exhibition, and ACI principal Lh. Wolring.

The programme began with a song presented by Varni Khumlo of Class XII (Science). Speaking on the occasion, principal Lh. Wolring said the exhibition was the first of its kind organised by the institution and expressed hope that it would be held every year.
Exhibition supervisor Leivon Raj Kom explained the theme of the exhibition, while Science supervisor Joseph Khamba spoke on the importance of combining science and art in education. He encouraged students to develop a better understanding of scientific concepts instead of relying only on textbook learning.
Dr Wilson Shongshir said science exhibitions provide students with opportunities to develop scientific thinking and present their ideas. In his inaugural address, ZEO Hrangbung Starson encouraged students to take part in science exhibitions and pursue innovative ideas. Referring to the achievement of 13-year-old Indian-origin student Arika Kundu in the United States, he said innovation can emerge at a young age when curiosity is encouraged.
After the inaugural programme, the guests visited the exhibition stalls where students demonstrated working models, live experiments and science projects.
Twenty stalls were put up on subjects including E20 fuel, microplastics, rainwater harvesting, decomposition, light transportation and human physiology. An open exhibition for parents and guardians was also held later in the day.
A quiz competition conducted by Pholnihring Tongsin was another feature of the programme.
In the exhibition competition, “The Invisible Ink” by Langhu Kimrose, Shangtila Awungshi and Modang Dangshawa of Class III won first place in the Classes I-VI category. In the Classes VII-X category, “Simple Electric Generator” by Karung Wangneithang Kom, Variina Ruwngtol and Totoni Sinruwng of Class X secured first place. In the Classes XI-XII category, “Micro-Plastic – The Invisible Pollutant” by Ruwngtol Shuhlungam, Karuna Kafle and Rezy Leivon of Class XII Science-A was adjudged the winning entry.
The programme concluded with the announcement of results and distribution of prizes.
