UKHRUL: Following the People’s Convention held at Lungphu village on June 18, 2026, under the auspices of Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang and Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang, a committee called the “South-East Tangkhul Co-ordination Committee” (SETCCOM) has been established to address the long-felt needs of the community.
According to their press release, the office bearers, executive committee members, and advisory board members were formally installed after taking an oath of secrecy in the presence of the chairpersons of Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang and Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang on July 22, 2026, at Shingkap village. The committee aims to work for the well-being of the South-East Tangkhul people and those residing in different areas of Manipur, they stated. Their aims and objectives are:
1. To safeguard territorial land rights and promote the socio-political, cultural, traditional, and economic interests of the South-East Tangkhul community.
2. To act as a coordinating body among South-East Tangkhul villages and communities located throughout Manipur.
3. To address grievances and represent the collective voice of the South-East Tangkhul people before the government and other authorities.
4. To promote peace, unity, and communal harmony among all communities while protecting the rights and identity of the South-East Tangkhul people.
5. To facilitate developmental activities in education, health, infrastructure, and youth welfare in South-East Tangkhul areas.
6. To preserve and promote the Tangkhul language, customs, traditions, natural environment, and heritage.
7. To provide humanitarian assistance during times of natural calamities, distress, and emergencies.

Further, the communique stated that  Wungshim Angkang was appointed as Convenor, and Gideon Zimik and Lovingson Keishing as Co-Convenors. Ngatangmi Hungyo was appointed the General Secretary, Roger Hungyo as Treasurer, and Rockson A. Shimray and Wonpam Ningshen as secretaries. Also, Mataimi Chithung, Shangreithan Siro, Tharza Kashung, Winson Shinglai, and Wungshungmi Kasar as Executive Committee Members, and Shangreiso Khodang as Committee Member cum Media In-charge, Ukhrul Base.
Additionally, the following persons are appointed as ex-officio members: SP. Lowry, Chairman, Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang (TNZL) and Augustine Kashung, Chairman, Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang (TNAL)
Furthermore, advisory board members include Mathew Kamodang, Ramthing Kasar, Unison Duidang, Jonah Shinglai, Rev. Somi Chithung, Ngaranmi Mahung, Hopeson Keishing, Chance Keishing, Yangmi Ningshen, Dr. Rev. Soreingam Ningshen, Executive Secretary, ETNBA, Dr. Rev. Raimi Rimai, Executive Secretary STNBA.

The South-East Tangkhul Co-ordination Committee shall function in cordial co-ordination with the apex bodies of Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang and Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang to fulfill the above objectives for the welfare of the South-East Tangkhul people in particular and the Tangkhul Naga as a whole, the committee stated.
