The notification, jointly issued by ANSAM Assembly Speaker Sinruwng Andria and Assembly Secretary Taothing Panmeidiring, stated that the session has been called to discuss the exigent situation facing the state and to deliberate on matters of urgent concern.
The ANSAM has requested all former leaders, constituent units, subordinate bodies, tribunals, and members of the Executive Council to treat the session as crucial and ensure their attendance.
The emergency session comes amid growing concerns over the state’s security situation. It may be mentioned that ANSAM had recently served a four-day ultimatum to the Government of Manipur, demanding that it establish the whereabouts and status of the six missing Naga hostages. The deadline for the ultimatum is set to expire on June 2.
ANSAM then said the emergency session is being convened in view of the prevailing unrest and developments affecting the state.
