ANSAM to Enforce Five-Day Office Picketing Across Naga Hill Districts from June 23

Ukhrul, June 22: The office of the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), while reaffirming its stance to continue the people’s movement against the imposed border fencing construction amidst the Naga homeland and the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the imaginary Indo-Myanmar/Burma border on February 8, 2024.

In pursuance of the resolution adopted during the presidential council meeting held on June 16, 2025, at Senapati, the Association declares to strictly enforce office picketing in all the Naga Hill Districts for 5 (five) days with effect from June 23, 2025, to June 27, 2025. This movement is stated to be a united demonstration expressing resentment over the ongoing imposed border fencing and the scrapping of the FMR.

Towards this end, the Association once again calls upon all the constituent units and subordinate bodies to strictly enforce the people’s movement in their respective jurisdictions for 5 (five) days in defense of the ancestral homeland and the integrity of Naga families.

In the event of any unwanted incident or situation arising during the movement, the student body blames the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to solely hold the responsibility.

The Association reiterated that any individual, contractor, transporter, agency, etc., engaging in the transportation, supply, storage, or facilitation of any raw materials intended for the construction of border fencing in connection with the scrapping of FMR should stop immediately. ANSAM warns that if any entity is found aiding such activity, they shall be held accountable for any untoward incident and face the consequences.
