UKHRUL: The Ao Senden has strongly condemned statements allegedly made by the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) leaders against former Nagaland chief minister S.C. Jamir. The civil body demanded retraction of the alleged statements within 15 days ‘in the interest of the Nagas’ while cautioning to take its course of action.
According to the press statement, the remarks were allegedly made by NSCN-IM leaders V.S. Atem and R.H. Raising on 16th September.

The Ao Senden stated that the vision of sovereignty is the sole aim and the legitimate aspiration of the Naga people and nothing else, and it stands by it. In the course of the Naga political journey, there are differences of opinion and self-inflicted divisions among the Nagas. However, these do not mean that the Naga political issue is in the sole domain of an individual, group of persons, or faction, it added.
“In this context, the Ao Senden vehemently condemn the disparaging comments against Dr. S.C. Jamir made on 16th September 2026 by V.S. Atem, Deputy Ato Kilonser NSCN (IM), stating that Dr. S.C. Jamir is not mandated and authorized people, just talking for the sake of barking, and by R.H. Raising, Member Steering Committee NCSN (IM), stating that Dr. S.C. Jamir is not an advocate of the Naga people, he does not have any right to talk about issue of Naga people,” the press release said.

Further, it stated that any Naga citizen who has a grasp of the Naga political scenario can comment and contribute his views to move forward the stagnated political process.
