Ao Students’ Conference condemns misuse of Imkongnukla Ao’s image in article “A Retrospect of the Current Manipur Violence”

Ukhrul, Dec 13: The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) strongly condemned the misuse of a representative image associated with an article titled “A Retrospect of the Current Manipur Violence,” claimed to be authored by an individual named “Imchungla Ao” from Mokokchung District. It stated that the article has been circulating widely on social media platforms for the past few months and now includes a photograph inaccurately identified as Imchungla Ao.

The student body on Thursday stated that a Facebook page “Zalengam Media” had used the image of Imkongnukla Ao, a respected civil servant from Nagaland, representing the alleged author. The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) termed this act as not only spreading misinformation but also disrespecting the individual’s integrity, by falsely associating her image with content she has no connection with.

The AKM declared that the name “Imchungla Ao” did not belong to any known member of the Ao Community and was being used as a fake identity. “This fabrication demonstrates a blatant attempt to mislead the public, tarnish reputations, and create confusion. The AKM will not tolerate such unethical and irresponsible behavior,” their press statement read.

The body then demanded immediate cessation and rectification from those creating and disseminating the fraudulent content. It further warned of pursuing legal action against individuals or organizations perpetuating these falsehoods.
