UKHRUL: The Angami Public Organization (APO) has urged the Kukis, who were allegedly granted permission to settle in the Angami territory, to remain grateful and refrain from any ambition and or design that may hamper the age-old tradition of peaceful co-existence.

In its statement issued on Sunday, the APO stated that it was shocked at the manner in which the citizens of Maova village treated the president and leaders of Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO).

APO stated that the CPO leaders went to meet their leaders for an amicable solution for certain issues which were hampering the peaceful co-existence of the two communities.

Stating that the attack on the president and leaders of CPO was a pre-planned and organized attack, APO termed it as a direct challenge for physical confrontation and most uncalled for.

The APO thanked the leaders of CPO for restraining their youth from going on rampage and violence and asserted that it has reports of the changing attitude of some of the Kukis in Angami territory following recent development in their neighbourhood.

“We are also observing the growing influx of Kukis into our territory,” it stated.

“In view of the prevailing situation the Angami Public Organization urged the Kukis who, by the kindness of our forefathers, were granted permission to settle in the Angami territory to remain grateful and refrain from any ambition and or design that may hamper the age-old tradition of peaceful co-existence,” APO added, while hoping that better sense would prevail and that the leaders of Maova Village and Chakhroma Public Organisation would resolve the issues without further escalation.
