UKHRUL: With the arrest of two more persons, the Arunachal Pradesh Police have so far apprehended five individuals, all residents of Jammu and Kashmir, for their alleged involvement in espionage activities linked to Pakistani handlers, officials said.

The latest arrests were made in Kupwara district on December 18, and the accused were brought to Arunachal Pradesh on Monday (December 22). They have been identified as Aijaz Ahmed Bhat and Bashir Ahmad Ganai, who are currently in police custody in Itanagar.

Earlier, police had arrested Nazir Ahmad Malik and Sabir Ahmed Mir from Kupwara district on November 21, based on credible intelligence inputs. Subsequently, another accused, Shabir Ahmed Khan, was arrested from Itanagar.

According to police, the accused allegedly collected sensitive information from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh during their visits and shared it with Pakistani handlers. The information reportedly had serious national security implications.
