GUWAHATI (SHABD): On the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh boundary issue, the Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state government does not want confrontation but wants to resolve the problem.
He said most village-level disputes with Arunachal Pradesh have already been resolved and expressed hope that the remaining issues would also be settled soon.

According to the chief minister, boundary-related disputes had involved 123 areas, of which issues concerning 71 have been resolved, while 52 remain disputed.
Sarma said he did not expect the incident to develop into a lasting conflict, citing the close cultural and social ties between the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
