Assam Rifles assist in averting Major Fire in Ukhrul

A major fire broke out in Hunphun Village area near Savio School at around 6pm on Sunday.

The inferno reportedly soon spread to the house built with wood and tin sheets and gutted the house completely.

Upon receiving the SOS, Wino Bazar Post of Assam Rifles immediately rushed towards the place of incident with fire extinguishers and assisted Fire Brigade Team by controlling crowd. Auto Fire Extinguisher balls (05) and Fire extinguishers (05) were used at the place from where fire was spreading severely preventing fire to spread to other houses. After a struggle of hour, the thick inferno was finally brought under control.

The fire destroyed the house. The owner of the house Mr Okthotya Sareo of Awungtang, Hunphun village sustained 30 percent burn injuries. The individual was rushed to District Hospital Ukhrul.
