Ukhrul: The Assam Rifles has issued a rebuttal to allegations made by the NSCN-IM, published in an article on September 13 by the Ukhrul Times, titled “NSCN(IM) Hails Divine Intervention and Tactical Success Amidst Intensified Clashes with KNA(B) and Allies.”

The paramilitary force has strongly rejected the claims as “baseless” and “misleading,” asserting that the accusations are aimed at damaging the reputation of security forces.

The NSCN-IM had alleged that Assam Rifles personnel had collaborated with the Kuki National Army – Burma (KNA-B) in an ambush against NSCN-IM cadres on September 3, 2024, resulting in the deaths of four Assam Rifles personnel. The Assam Rifles has categorically denied any involvement with KNA-B or any other insurgent group, calling such allegations “unfounded.”

In a strong rebuttal issued on Sunday by the Assam Rifles, it said that the “Assam Rifles is India’s oldest paramilitary force, has a long-standing mandate to protect India’s north eastern borders and operate within the constitutional framework. Any insinuation of collaboration with KNA(B) is absolutely baseless and aims to malign the security forces.”

The Assam Rifles also urged media outlets to be cautious and verify facts before publishing such sensitive claims, warning that unfounded allegations could potentially disrupt law and order in the region.
