Auto Rally Marks Launch of National Road Safety Month 2026 in Tamenglong

TAMENGLONG: Manipur’s Tamenglong district joined the rest of the country in observing National Road Safety Month 2026 on Friday. The National Road Safety Month 2026 was launched in the district in an event organised by the District Administration Tamenglong in collaboration with the District Transport Office (DTO). The launch was marked by an auto rally that began at Haipou Jadonang Park and concluded at Mini Stadium, Utopia.

The rally was flagged off by Namthango Kamei, Assistant Commissioner to the Deputy Commissioner. The launching programme was attended by Savio Daimai, MCS; Khumujam Nitanjoy, DTO; police personnel and DTO staff, among other officials.

During the launch programme, key road safety reminders – Wear a helmet, Don’t drink and drive, Don’t use mobile phone while driving, Follow traffic signals, Check left and right before crossing the road- were highlighted. 

A series of activities has been planned throughout the month to raise public awareness and promote safer road behaviour. These include wall painting drives, public awareness campaigns, skits on road safety, a special enforcement-cum-awareness drive, and a district-level painting competition at various locations across Tamenglong. 

Prizes and acknowledgements for the month’s activities will be distributed on Republic Day.
