Agartala, Jul 10: Cross-border diplomacy took on a deliciously personal touch as Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus chose to honour Tripura’s Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) with 300 kilograms of the nation’s celebrated Haribhanga mangoes, delivered fresh through the Akhaura land port.

According to sources from Bangladesh, the diplomatic gift was dispatched through the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria on Thursday evening at approximately 5:00 PM. The gesture represents what officials describe as a demonstration of diplomatic goodwill and friendly relations between the two nations.

Meanwhile, Jahangir Alam, the responsible revenue officer of the customs department at Akhaura land port, confirmed the shipment details. “The mangoes were packed in 60 cartons totalling 300 kilograms and were formally handed over to the Indian Border Security Force and customs authorities,” Alam stated.

However, confirming the receipt on the Indian side, ICP Agartala Port In-charge Rajesh Dey told Ukhrul Times, “The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission, Agartala, imported mangoes from Bangladesh.”

Furthermore, sources from Bangladesh indicated that the gift items will be delivered to the relevant representatives of the Tripura state government through the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission located in Agartala. The mango shipment was accompanied by a complimentary card containing greetings from the Chief Adviser along with appropriate packaging materials.

Additionally, the Protocol Division of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated this diplomatic gift-sending process. Officials from both sides expect that such high-level humanitarian and diplomatic initiatives will further strengthen relations between the two countries.
