The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland unit, held its state office bearers meeting at state BJP head office Kohima on Wednesday.
The meeting led by state president Temjen Imna Along, with state Morcha presidents and general secretaries adopted a three point resolution in support of the Naga Peace process and the subsequent formation of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) government of Nagaland.
BJP Nagaland also extended a warm welcome to A K Mishra, the new Naga peace process interlocutor, and the governor of Nagaland Prof. Jagdish Mukhi. The party said it was confident with A K Mishra and Prof. Jagdish Mukhi of their “wisdom and political acumen, the pertinent ‘Naga political issue’ is brought to a peaceful settlement.”
The three resolutions taken are:
1. The BJP Nagaland Unit supports and endorses the positive direction and pace with which the Naga peace process is taking place under the leadership of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
The meeting also affirmed the resolution for ‘Naga Political Settlement’ adopted on 27th August 2020, which was reaffirmed in the State Executive Meeting held in Dimapur on the 17th of April 2021.
2. BJP Nagaland Unit also resolved and pledged to extend its unconditional support to Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, and Deputy Chief Minister Y.Patton – for their far sighted visions for the greater cause of the Nagas, which ultimately resulted in the formation of the historic opposition less Government: herein, known as UDA Government of Nagaland.
3. BJP Nagaland Unit expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Assam and Convenor NEDA, Himanta Biswas for his magnanimity and positive role in the Naga Peace Talk.
