A team of doctors at CHC Kamjong which will be upgraded to Kamjong district hospital soon as announced by MLA Leishiyo Keishing, comprised of Dr. Mascot MC (General Surgery Specialist, MO Kamjong), Dr. K. Rock Soreingam (Anaesthesia Specialist, JNIMS), assisted by Dr. Yoyaphy A Shimray (MO Kamjong) and staff nurses of Kamjong district hospital on Wednesday performed a major Appendectomy surgery.
The patient Rinchuila Shazia, 28-year-old female from Kamjong is said to be stable.
Staff nurses who assisted in the surgery were Wonnam Jajo, Rashingphy Jajo, Lansingla Shimphrui, and M. Zinghorla.
Kamjong district hospital, operation theater was inaugurated by MLA Leishiyo Keishing on Wednesday, the same day the surgery was performed.
The medical staff expressed its gratitude to MLA Leishiyo Keishing, 43-Phungyar Assembly Constituency, Deputy Commissioner Worshang Hungyo, CSOs of Kamjong, Mathanmi Hungyo in helping setting up of the operation theatre.
Doctors at CHC Kamjong told this correspondent that the CHC had several challenges due to unavailability of medical equipment and adequate medical infrastructure in the hospital. And because of this, the Medical staff members said that patients coming from remote villages from Kamjong district were referred to either Imphal or Ukhrul for treatment. Shortage of doctors also is an increasing concern for the hospital, the staffs said.
In June 2021, Ninglum Hungyo from Ningchou village donated a 33kv generator for district hospital Kamjong worth 5.5 lakhs to assist the district administration and the health department in its fight against Covid-19.
It may be also mentioned that, Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) caretaker chairman Dr Yaronsho Ngalung provided life support ambulance to Kamjong district hospitals in June 2021 for use during Covid-19 pandemic.
