BANGALURU/UKHRUL: The Bangalore Manipur Student Association (BMSA) Annual Multi-Sports Tournament 2026 concluded on Saturday, marking another memorable chapter in the sporting history of the community. The tournament featured BMSA’s flagship sporting events – Unity Cup 2026 and Smash For Glory 2026, BMSA said in a statement.
The tournament was graced by Rajesh A. M. as the Chief Guest while the event was presided over by Yambem Arun Meetei, a prominent North East leader in Bengaluru. Meetei is founder of Apaibi Venture, president of the Manipur Soccer Futsal Association (MANISFA), and chairman of the Technical Board Commission of GIMAF.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from athletes and teams across communities.
BMSA stated that a total of 16 football teams, representing Bangalore-based groups with roots in Arunachal Pradesh, Gurkha, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura, competed in the Unity Cup 2026, while 17 teams participated in the Smash For Glory 2026 – Badminton Doubles Open.
“One of the highlights of the badminton competition was the participation of mixed pairs, where female players partnered with male players and competed against men’s doubles teams, demonstrating exceptional sportsmanship and competitive spirit,” BMSA stated.
In the Smash For Glory 2026 – Badminton Doubles Open, Rajkumar Ringson Singh and Dylan P. Thokchom secured the Champion title with a convincing straight-games victory, winning 21–9, 21–11 while M. Saheednanda and RK Thoungamba won the Runners-up title.
In the Unity Cup 2026, Salai FC B emerged victorious, defeating Salai FC A by 3–2 in penalties to lift the Unity Cup 2026 trophy.
Meanwhile, the BMSA Annual Multi-Sports Organizing Committee extended its heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, officials, referees, judges, volunteers, participants, winners, runners-up, supporters, medical team, sponsors and well-wishers whose invaluable contributions made the event a grand success.
